Capsimax Capsicum Extract and the health-promoting benefits of capsaicinoids have been researched in both animal and human clinical studies, all conducted in the US. The primary areas of study have been thermogenesis, lipolysis, metabolism and body composition.
A randomized, placebo controlled, double-blind, cross over human clinical study explored the effects of Capsimax®on lipolysis—the breakdown of fat—and secretion of epinephrine and norephinephrine—hormones that control metabolism on both healthy and obese subjects. Twenty healthy subjects who ingested 100 mg Capsimax (2 mg capsaicinoids) showed significant increases in free fatty acids and glycerol in their blood post-ingestion and after exercise—an indicator of fat breakdown. In another randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study, 45 obese participants were assigned to receive a supplement containing Capsimax, raspberry ketone, caffeine, garlic, ginger and citrus aurantium or a placebo. After eight weeks of daily supplementation, a calorie-restricted diet and exercise training, the group taking the Capsimax-containing supplement lost more weight, more body fat and more waist and hip girth than the placebo group. The Capsimax group also gained more lean body mass.

In a double-blind, randomized controlled trial, Capsimax®—in combination with black pepper extract, niacin and caffeine—increased energy expenditure and oxygen consumption rate (a measure known as VO2) 50 minutes after ingestion. After exercise, VO2, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and heart rate (in men only) were greater after supplementation at 10, 20, 30, and 50 minutes post-exercise.
Energy expenditure and fat craving after supplementation with Capsimax—in combination with raspberry ketone, caffeine, garlic, ginger and citrus aurantium—in 70 obese men and women was explored in another study. Energy levels increased while fat craving decreased.
To monitor Capsimax’s thermogenic properties, a double-blind, randomized controlled cross-over study was conducted. Twenty-five participants were asked to exercise on treadmills on two separate occasions. On one occasion, the subjects took Capsimax Plus before exercise, and on the second occasion, they took a placebo. By assessing energy expenditure, it was found that the participants burned more calories before, during and after exercise when they had taken Capsimax Plus as compared to the placebo.

Novel research published in the August 8, 2013 New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) article, “Glucose Levels and Risk of Dementia” suggests, higher glucose levels may be a risk factor for dementia, even among persons without diabetes. Click here for more information.
Other research has shown that Chromax® chromium picolinate supports brain glucose transporter function and contributes to improved glucose metabolism, significantly improving cognitive function.
Chromax® chromium picolinate has been affirmed as Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) for use in food and beverage products for more than a decade and was affirmed in November 2012 GRAS for use in foods at daily doses up to 2,000 mcg of chromium. It is one of only a handful of marketed ingredients to have secured this status at clinically effective doses. Chromax® is easy to use in food and beverage products. It is used in very low dosages and therefore does not require extensive formulation rebalancing. It is extremely stable and will not break down when exposed to high temperature processing methods. It does not impart off-flavors, nor does it react with other ingredients.
Chromax® is approved for use within the United States, European Union, Canada, China and numerous other important markets throughout the world.
Chromax® compositions and/or uses are protected under U.S. patents:

A 12-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study has been conducted on 17 obese subjects (BMI=30-33.3). They received either 0.9g/day of Fiit-ns (2x450mg) or a placebo and had a normal diet & 30min/week of physical activity.
After 12 weeks, metabolic markers have been improved, leading to a significant improvement of QOL:
With the publication of this clinical study in the International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition, Fiit-ns confirms delivering benefits from the synergistic combination of selected fruit & vegetable extracts and vitamin B3 to improve QOL based on the rejuvenation of metabolic functions. A second publication-pending clinical study confirms these benefits. Fiit-ns is suitable for tablets, capsules, sachets, stick-packs, functional beverages, at a daily dosage of 900mg/day.
Eight weeks of supplementation with a multi-ingredient weight loss product enhances body composition, reduces hip and waist girth, and increases energy levels in overweight men and women Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition 2013, 10:22 doi:10.1186/1550-2783-10-22
Abstract Background Numerous natural products are marketed and sold claiming to decrease body weight and fat, but few undergo finished product-specific research demonstrating their safety and efficacy. Objective To determine the safety and efficacy of a multi-ingredient supplement containing primarily raspberry ketone, caffeine, capsaicin, garlic, ginger and Citrus aurantium (Prograde Metabolism™ [METABO]) as an adjunct to an eight-week weight loss program. Methods Using a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind design, 70 obese but otherwise healthy subjects were randomly assigned to METABO or a placebo and underwent 8 weeks of daily supplementation, a calorie restricted diet, and exercise training. Subjects were tested for changes in body composition, serum adipocytokines (adiponectin, resistin, leptin, TNF-α, IL- 6) and markers of health including heart rate and blood pressure. Results Of the 45 subjects who completed the study, significant differences were observed in: body weight (METABO -2.0% vs. placebo -0.5%, P < 0.01), fat mass (METABO -7.8 vs. placebo – 2.8%, P < 0.001), lean mass (METABO +3.4% vs. placebo +0.8%, P < 0.03), waist girth (METABO -2.0% vs. placebo -0.2%, P < 0.0007), hip girth (METABO -1.7% vs. placebo – 0.4%, P < 0.003), and energy levels per anchored visual analogue scale (VAS) (METABO +29.3% vs. placebo +5.1%, P < 0.04). During the first 4 weeks, effects/trends for maintaining elevated serum leptin (P < 0.03) and decreased serum resistin (P < 0.08) in the METABO group vs. placebo were also observed. No changes in systemic hemodynamics, clinical blood chemistries, adverse events, or dietary intake were noted between groups. Conclusions METABO administration is a safe and effective adjunct to an eight-week diet and exercise weight loss program by augmenting improvements in body composition, waist and hip girth. Adherence to the eight-week weight loss program also led to beneficial changes in body fat in placebo. Ongoing studies to confirm these results and clarify the mechanisms (i.e., biochemical and neuroendocrine mediators) by which METABO exerts the observed salutary.
